"... After a late afternoon snack at Drakes Oyster Farm my bf and I stopped off in Fairfax to grab a drink - it beats sitting in Friday rush hour back into SF.

"... We walked around a bit until we settled on Barefoot. Once we walked in our senses were dramatically enticed with the sweet smell of butter, white wine and garlic. It was freaking heavenly. The restuarant is small, but just the perfect size to be quaint without being suffocating. They have large windows they open to let the fresh air flow through - and their sweet smells to drift out, I assume."

Fairfax is like no other town in Marin ... maybe even California. It’s the gateway to West Marin’s great outdoors: Alpine, Bon-Tempe, Lagunitas and Kent Lakes are virtually next door. Mt. Tamalpais lies directly south and Pt. Reyes National Seashore awaits to the west. Weekends buzz with picnickers, hikers, mountain bikers, roadies and just-plain-drive-by-nature-lovers. Evenings hum with live music, (Fairfax is famous for its music scene), brew-pubs, quiet get-aways with fabulous wine cellars, movies at the Fairfax Theater ... and, of course, superb restaurants -- some of which are nearly as delightful as The Barefoot Café.
